A quick upgrade to your kitchen can add value to your home without breaking your wallet. Here are some budget friendly tips on how to renovate your kitchen on a budget.
1. Paint!
We have said it once and we will say it many times, painting something is the easiest and cheapest way to make an old room look new. Paint is like makeup to a house. It covers up imperfections and makes the room look fresh and new. You can paint an accent wall, the whole kitchen, the baseboards, the ceiling, or your cabinets! Whatever you paint, it will immediately make your kitchen look brand new. If you don’t want to paint, you can invest in some wallpaper or contact paper to give your kitchen some character!
2. Accessorize
You may be thinking, why would I accessorize my kitchen if all I do is cook in it? Accessorizing your kitchen can give it an immediate facelift and it’ll make you happier every time you go in there. You can accessorize your kitchen with some real of fake plants or you can also invest in some colorful, useful, and new appliances to leave on your countertops to add a pop of color. Matching canisters for your salt, sugar, coffee, or any other food item you leave out on the countertop can make your countertop space look less cluttered and fashionable. You can also get some organizers because they make a cluttered space look clean, and who doesn’t love to see an organized area?
3. Add a Backsplash
Adding a backsplash is easy. Adding the correct backsplash is another task. Backsplash is practical because it keeps your walls clean, but it is also an accessory that can make or break your kitchen. If your backsplash is old or boring, search for new ones that will make your kitchen look like new in an instant. 4. Hang Shelves
Hanging shelves seem like such a hassle. But, if you install them right, they add so much space and storage to a kitchen that you’ll be glad you installed them. Nothing appeals more to home buyers than extra storage, because let’s face it, we are all guilty of owning too many things.
5. Update Your Hardware
This may seem unnecessary, but trust us, every detail counts. Upgrading your hardware gives added value to your kitchen. You can paint hardware believe it or not! I know, I was shocked when I found that out too. If your kitchen faucet is sturdy, doesn’t leak, you like the design, don’t spend so much money changing it out, just paint it! You can sand down the metal and purchase stainless steel spray paint to make your faucet look brand new! You can do this for the handles on your cabinets as well. Or, if you want to splurge, you can buy brand new hardware as well!
But wait… there’s more! You can also paint over your microwave, dishwasher, over, and refrigerator if you are feeling bold. This is a cheap and easy way to update your appliances to make them look expensive without hurting your pockets.
6. Re-do Your Countertops
Countertops are the first thing you see when you walk into the kitchen. If you already have beautiful granite countertops, make sure you are cleaning them correctly so they stay smooth and glossy. If you don’t have granite countertops, or the countertops of your dreams, you can upgrade them! There are DIY countertop kits believe it or not that help you give a facelift to your already existing countertops to make them look like new. If you don’t want to DIY this, you can invest in some new countertops to make the kitchen of your dreams come to life!
